Rie Matsumoto was born in Japan and began studying piano at the age of five. Upon graduating from Toho Gakuen High School of Music she came over to the United States to study at the Juilliard School where she received both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music. Ms. Matsumoto studied with Sasha Gorodnizky, Miyoko Nakaya and George Sander. She studied chamber music with Joseph Fuchs and William Lincer.
Ms. Matsumoto has appeared on WQXR, the Beethoven Society of Lincoln Center, and the Philharmonia Virtuosi. For the past 20 years, Ms. Matsumoto has been concentrating on teaching her students. She still enjoys performing chamber music with her close colleagues and recently performed with Kol Arts Faculty in Kol Ami’s Synaplex services. Ms.Matsumoto can teach piano in either English or Japanese.
